I am undertaking a huge sort out of all my work, both sound and image, which spans over 20 years.
One of the things I am doing is reorganising my previous project, SOUNDICIAN. This includes digitising all the reviews, albums, artwork etc and also has been a bittersweet listening down memory lane.
I am not giving up on this project, just re evaluating and also sometimes, creating redux versions of tracks I like.
Here is one such track, Taygeta, originally released in 2004 and found on the album Seven Sisters, which was Best Electronic Album , New Age Reporter / Zonemusic Reporter
(2004)
The original idea for Seven Sisters didn’t come from the Greek myths but from a chance visit to a nearby Neolithic burial site called Copt Hill – also locally referred to as the Seven Sisters. After visiting the site I wrote the first track – Seven Sisters. After composing the opening track I began to read more about the Seven Sisters in Greek mythology and about the star cluster the Pleiades.
In Greek Mythology there are several stories about how the Seven Sisters became stars. In one such myth the hunter Orion began to pursue all of the Pleiades. To save them from Orion, Zeus transformed them first into doves and then into stars to comfort their father. The constellation of Orion is said to still pursue them across the night sky.
