I have been creating sound works which have been included in worldwide projects for the past twenty years and art has played a major role in these and my releases.
Since 2015 my methods of working had to be adapted due to ill health and now, I find myself increasingly having to adapt my work again to also include time needed as a carer. Sound is still my primary practice as I believe sound is art. However, my visual work including drawing, painting and video have been coming to the forefront more, as I can combine these with my responsibilities more easily. They are also easier to display, as galleries find it difficult to think of sound as both visual or art.
I am very honoured to have my pen and ink drawings I have been creating for the past year, for Symbiosis, accepted in a real gallery space as part of the Environmental Themes Category for the Norfolk Street Arts open call, to be held next March 2024 in Hills Art Gallery, Sunderland.
Unaccustomed as I am for blowing my own trumpet but it’s only taken over twenty years to have my first actual exhibition and in good company too.
Just like the Oscars, my acceptance speech includes thanks to some very special people without whom, I would never have stuck my head over the parapet….Pink Collar Gallery, Jay Sykes Media , Norfolk Street Arts and of course, to my wonderful family for their support all these years…..all two of them ❤
